What is a GPA calculator?
A grade point average (GPA) summarizes academic performance by combining course grades with their credit-hour weights. This calculator uses a standard 4.0 scale and calculates a weighted GPA, so a course carrying more credits contributes more to the final result.
GPA formula
GPA = Σ(grade points × course credits) ÷ Σ(course credits)
Enter each course, select the grade earned and add the relevant credits. The calculator multiplies grade points by credits for every course, totals the quality points and divides by the total number of credits.
Worked example
Suppose three courses have grades A (3 credits), B+ (4 credits) and B (3 credits). Using grade points 4.0, 3.3 and 3.0, the quality points are 12.0, 13.2 and 9.0. The total is 34.2 quality points across 10 credits, producing a GPA of 3.42.
