What score do you need on the final?
The final grade calculator estimates the percentage required on a remaining exam or assignment to reach a desired overall course grade.
Formula
If the final exam has weight w, then completed coursework has weight 1 − w. The required final score is (target grade − current grade × (1 − w)) ÷ w.
Example
A student currently has 78% and the final exam is worth 30% of the course. To finish with 80%, the required final score is approximately 84.7%.
If the calculated requirement exceeds 100%, the target is not reachable under the supplied weights. If the requirement is below 0%, the target has already been secured mathematically.
