Research Data Sources
ITS Research Solution builds its public intelligence from open scholarly infrastructure and preserves source identifiers and synchronization dates so research metrics remain traceable.
Research Organization Registry (ROR)
ROR provides the worldwide organization identity layer: institution names, organization types, locations, status, external identifiers and website links. ROR records are imported into the local database before scholarly enrichment so institutions can exist without being prematurely published as research-performance pages.
OpenAlex
OpenAlex enriches institutions with publication counts, citation counts, yearly activity, h-index, i10-index and research-topic classifications. ITS stores only the analytical fields needed for the public intelligence product rather than mirroring the complete scholarly graph, which keeps the database within the configured storage ceiling.
ITS Research Solution analytical layer
ITS adds normalization, duplicate control, data-completeness checks, five-year aggregation, growth calculations, ranking scores, country benchmarking, field-strength analytics and SEO publication gates. These derived indicators are clearly separated from the underlying source data.
Storage policy
The database has a configured design ceiling of approximately 3 GiB. Automatic ingestion pauses at 90% of that ceiling rather than deleting source records. This preserves a safety margin for indexes, ranking rebuilds and WordPress operations.
Freshness
Source metadata is refreshed through scheduled jobs. Public pages report local synchronization dates because citation counts and scholarly affiliations are not static.
